Facebook Michelle Zimnisky, Principal Principal's Message Hello Northwood Families, Thank you to all who donated to our March Madness Food Drive! We collected over 4,000 items thank to your generosity. Our community is amazing! We are grateful for all of this support. These donations will directly support weekend food packs. In Partnership, Your Northwood Administrators Michelle Zimnisky, Principal Myra Josey, Assistant Principal Just So You Know We are currently working with the city and district to determine next steps for mitigating the back-up our afternoon dismissal causes. When we have early dismissal for “school improvement” as we do this week, staff engage in professional learning. This week, Friday is an early dismissal for school improvement. Our staff will be engaged in training focused on current and new assessment and data tools including Smarter Balanced training, mClass training, and an introduction to a new data dashboard called Insights. When we have late-start on Monday, our teachers and staff still arrive at work at their regular time and use that time for collaboration and preparation that cannot occur while they are engaged in teaching and supervision of students. This week, during late start, all of our staff will be meeting all together and looking at attendance, social-emotional, perception, and academic data. In addition to the Northwood News that goes home weekly to families, staff get a weekly newsletter and students view a weekly newscast from us. We are working to develop a Parent Roundtable group. This is a group of parents interested in providing regular feedback and insights that will support our continued quest for excellence as a school community. Stay tuned for the opportunity, coming soon.
