New Northwood Construction Begins!
New Northwood Construction Begins!
Posted on 02/05/2018

We are excited to announce that construction will begin of the new Northwood Elementary building in the first week of March.  Since school will be in session during construction, Northwood families will need to be made aware of the following:

*Limited Parking Spaces/Increased Traffic – We highly recommend that students ride the bus.  Parking spaces will be limited, which will cause an increase in traffic.  If it is absolutely necessary for you to drop off and/or pick up your student at school, please plan accordingly.  Tardies will not be excused due to traffic.

We also want to emphasize the importance of safety.  Please practice patience, grace, and care while driving through the parking lot.  We have many families and students walking through the parking lot.

Again, high volume traffic can be alleviated with students taking the bus.

*Traditional School Events – Due to limited parking available, we may need to put certain traditional events on hold for the 2018-2019 school year.  The building leadership team will assess each event to determine the feasibility of facilitating each event.

*Playground – The district and the construction company have made safety a priority for our students and staff.  This will require establishing a large perimeter around the construction site.  It will include taking a large portion of our playground.  The building leadership team and student leadership have worked together to create alternative activities to create a fun environment for students on the playground.  The Northwood PTA have also agreed to assist with the purchase of additional playground equipment.

Northwood will look a little different as we enter construction in the first week of March, but we are so excited to be able to start building a school to accommodate our fast-growing student population.

If you haven’t had the chance already, we have blueprints of the new building displayed in our front hallway.  If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact the school.

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we go through this exciting process!
